Blog Post #4

After looking at the revisions made by Dr. Bacabac, I made those quick revisions to my literature review. Most of my mistakes were just aspects that I overlooked while writing. I was using writers first names instead of last and I used six instead of eight sources, so I will be adding two sources that support my topic. The works cited page was and is a struggle for me because I don't necessarily understand why there the databases provides the wrong format of the citation. Aside from that, I plan on extending my outline to complete my rough draft this week. I picked a brand from instagram that I think is equally promoted by the brand itself and sponsors: Curology. By narrowing it down to such an online heavy brand, especially one that is so popular, I can do this research justice. I think that on Tuesday's class, October 25, I will ask more about how it is supposed to be outlined. I know parts of my literature review will be moved around, and I just want to know where and what....

Research Gap. I think I want to focus on the actual content of the advertisements. I don't necessarily care about what is being advertise (I'm sure I will pick a particular brand to narrow down the research), but more about how consumers engage with the media. How do the brands have conversations with the consumers, how do the consumers react to the particular ad versus how influencers choose to advertise the product. Visually is it different? What does the caption say? It is more informational or more conversational? I think the overall message is that Instagram does well, but why  does it do well? What components make it a successful post?
