 After looking at the revisions made by Dr. Bacabac, I made those quick revisions to my literature review. Most of my mistakes were just aspects that I overlooked while writing. I was using writers first names instead of last and I used six instead of eight sources, so I will be adding two sources that support my topic. The works cited page was and is a struggle for me because I don't necessarily understand why there the databases provides the wrong format of the citation. Aside from that, I plan on extending my outline to complete my rough draft this week. I picked a brand from instagram that I think is equally promoted by the brand itself and sponsors: Curology. By narrowing it down to such an online heavy brand, especially one that is so popular, I can do this research justice. I think that on Tuesday's class, October 25, I will ask more about how it is supposed to be outlined. I know parts of my literature review will be moved around, and I just want to know where and what.

    Hi Merika,
    I also had a few quick revisions that I could add to my literature review. I found myself submitting a paper that seemed to be a little scattered and rushed. I think after adding those quick fixes that you mentioned to my paper as well will ensure a better submitted paper. I really like the idea of you using Curology as a source. Using that brand is one that I think will easily provide research. I personally see that brand consistently as an ad through my feed. I think your revisions are heading in a great direction.

    Sounds like you're on the right track! A good source that helps me with MLA Citations is https://www.citationmachine.net/

    After I put in the required information, I use the MLA sheet to double check to see if everything is correct.

Potential Topics in Research A topic of research that would be very interesting to study would be which medium is most useful for spreading the word and effective in bringing people in for events. I work at the Human Performance Center on campus, so it would be interesting to hold an event and advertise on three different platforms to see which one is most influential. A hard copy poster around school, Instagram, and email. These are the most popular ways of communication while in the university setting. Then, when the event rolls around, tally how many participated and survey how they came to obtain the knowledge of said event. This will make it an interpretive research project using mixed methods (Quantitive and Qualitive) to obtain the data. This will, in other words, determine how effective the student body is at advertising, and what they should change in order to bring more people in.

 Tentative Sources I am really interesting on how people/businesses (specifically Utah Tech University) market on different platforms. Which one is most effective? I want to look at social media and print based advertisements around the University has the most pull towards students. Which one made the students show up, the flyers around campus or the posts on Instagram?  Research Gap. I think I want to focus on the actual content of the advertisements. I don't necessarily care about what is being advertise (I'm sure I will pick a particular brand to narrow down the research), but more about how consumers engage with the media. How do the brands have conversations with the consumers, how do the consumers react to the particular ad versus how influencers choose to advertise the product. Visually is it different? What does the caption say? It is more informational or more conversational? I think the overall message is that Instagram does well, but why  does it do well? What components make it a successful post?
